Women's Board Committees

 

Scholarship – Julie Becker-Myers, Northwood University

The Scholarship Committee runs the WB scholarship program, rewarding female students entering, as well as already involved in, going to school for careers in the aftermarket.

Consumer Education – Ruth Ehlinger, AAA

The Consumer Education committee’s mission is to educate female consumers about the importance of maintaining their vehicle.

Recruitment and New Members – Beth Skove

The Recruitment and New Members committee’s focus is recruiting new members to join the Women’s Board and keeping existing members involved.

Industry Relations – Linda Rudd, Bridgestone Retail Operations

The Industry Relations committee is focused on creating new ways to attract more women to the automotive aftermarket industry.

Membership and Special Programs – Marion Posen, Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS)

The Membership and Special Programs committee addresses the needs of current members and is in charge of such programs as the annual Automotive Communications Awards and Aftermarket Woman of the Year award.   

2010 WB Committee Goals

Scholarship Committee

  • Create a brochure to help solicit additional donations to scholarship fund.
  • Explore electronic options for submitting and reviewing scholarship applications.

Consumer Education Committee

  • Identify organizations to post the link to the Women's Car Care Clinic Kit from http://carcare.org to their site.
  • Tap into existing relationships to raise awareness of the kit’s availability.
  • Plot WB Members on a map to easily identify members for assistance in areas in which a clinic is being held.
  • Raise awareness of the Event Finder on http://carcare.org

Recruitment and New Members Committee

  • Utilize Facebook page with member profiles and scholarship winner profiles
  • Utilize all social media channels more than ever

Industry Relations Committee

  • Join the advisory board of a community college, technical school, vocational school or high school with an automotive program
  • Compile a list of schools to send scholarship information to
  • Make a video to post on YouTube featuring the Women's Board with footage of AAPEX reception, 2011 Winter meeting and member interviews

Membership and Special Program Committee

  • Create standardized form for Woman of the Year nominations
  • Incorporate social media into ACA program
  • Implement "Show Your Wheels" video contest for teens
